The Brig o' Turk Tearoom

About Our Wee Tearoom

The current owners James and Kay reopened the Brig o’ Turk Tearoom in April 2021, after providing the building with some much needed TLC. As soon as you walk into the tearoom, James’ handiwork is evident! How we ‘accidentally’ bought the tearoom and why after 5 years Kay is still banned from looking at Rightmove, as well as our journey for bringing the building back to life can be seen throughout our earlier blog posts.

About Us

For us, running The Brig o’ Turk Tearoom is about bringing together: our love of the great outdoors, our passion for wholesome homemade food and being mindful of the environment we live in.

Kay has had a passion for food and cooking and an interest in food choice, long before she knew she had a desire to run a tearoom! Therefore, it is not surprising that creating an ‘inclusive eating experience’ for those whose dietary needs may sometimes make them feel like they are constantly apologising for what they cannot eat, is central to the menu. At the Brig o’ Turk Tearoom you will find plenty of vegan and gluten free options and we are always happy to have a chat to see how we can adapt our offerings to cater for your dietary requirements. We prepare a lot of our food on premises ensuring that we know what ingredients are in our products and keeping them as fresh as possible, whilst also helping us to reduce a reliance on single use plastic where we can. As important to us, is reducing food waste. This can mean that sometimes our most popular bakes may run out before the end of the day, but we would rather this than have a lot of food waste.

We are a ‘disposable cup free’ tearoom, help us reduce plastic and litter, cup by cup! We do not use disposable take away cups or containers (even the supposedly compostable ones!). Instead we encourage you to bring your own cup or tupperware if you would like to take away any of our tasty wares. Alternatively, we do have our own branded reusable cups for sale, if you forget your own cup.

We are keen advocates of the benefits that immersing yourself in nature can have on your body, mind and soul and want to support our customers who are doing just that. As well as a place to refuel yourself, we have an e-bike charger and a repair station, just in case there are any bicycle mishaps!

We Create Delicious Memories

This has recently had an "upgrade" and looks fresh and modern inside with some outside seating as well. It was really busy when we called in, but the staff are friendly and hard-working. There are some nice walks in the vicinity and it's well worth stopping here if you have some time to spend.

Lovingly restored classic Scottish Tea Room. Kay's baking is phenomenal and so inclusive, she always makes plant based treats and items with non-gluten containing ingredients, but be quick because the delicious cakes sometimes fly out of the door.

I’ve had the pleasure of having many meals at the Brig O’Turk Tea Room, since the mid 1990’s. A good friend of mine used to have family living in that simply stunning part of Scotland, and I was fortunate enough to spend some time over there.
